I want

I want:

  • health and happiness for my friends and family
  • the same as above for me
  • the job search to be over
  • my current and future business endeavors to pan out so I don’t have to work for anybody but myself for the rest of my life
  • my MTV (which consists solely of good music videos)
  • to get a band going again
  • to be able to focus on the work that I currently have to finish and the work I have yet to start
  • to be able to spend some more time with my twins
  • it to be Friday night so I can have another full weekend
  • you to want me

I need:

  • a drink

Insane in the Membrane…

Yes, there is reason for how messed up I feel right now.

First, there is the stress of finding a new job. I currently have 5 weeks to find a new job. Needless to say, things are not going as well as I would hope for them to. Plus there are complications in my thought process because I plan to be working for myself within 1 year. Makes it hard to find a job that you know you will be leaving in a semi-short amount of time.

A little drama going on in my life right now, too. I refuse to name names and specifics about what has happened recently, but lets just say that I’m not the only one who is hurting right now. Do I regret my decision? No. Am I miserable over the decision? Yes. But what I feel to be right should not be compromised. And I was letting it happen because I wanted it to. No one is at fault here, and if anybody is at fault, it is me.

On top of all of the downers, at least there are still 3 things that keep me going: Playing my keyboard, My future business endeavors (which are already taking shape – very quickly, I might add), and my friends. Thank you all.

Masking the Sun

On my drive home today, I realized that I had not heard Clouds Over Phoenix* (right-click, Save Target As…) in quite a long time. It seems to be the correct dose of medication for me right now.

I thought I would share it with those of you who may not have heard it before, and those of you who just forgot about it. It’s a great song, and you’ll think so too. If this is not the case, and you do not like the song, you are hereby banned from reading YarshBlog! for the rest of eternity.

Enjoy

Walking and Thinking

From the air I see your loneliness
You carry on despite your fear
Inside a box you keep your sanity
And it will never seem clear, to me

Over the hills, the light, it flows…
It shows the angels laughing
Where is the love that we’re supposed to find?
Lost in a maze of games so very dark and overwhelming
Lost in these thoughts that seem to rule my mind

A simple spell cast is broken through
The force of life decides to bend
You lay below the sacred stormy skies
And you will write the end… for me

Over the hills, the light, it flows…
It shows the angels laughing
Where is the love that we’re supposed to find?
Lost in a maze of games so very dark and overwhelming
Lost in these thoughts that seem to rule my mind

The door will close and I will be denied
A dagger thrust into my chest
You claim yourself to the victory
But it is I… who will rest, in peace

Over the hills, the light, it flows
It shows the angels laughing
But where is the love that we’re supposed to find?
Lost in a maze of games so very dark and overwhelming
Lost in these thoughts that seem to rule my mind

My mind……

Aaaahhhh… Weekend

Friday night, we had a farewell happy hour gathering for a recently former-ed coworker. It was a nice turnout all together, and we managed to drink and shoot the shizzy for the better part of 6 hours. I was pleasantly surprised that the man of honor came out and actually stayed for the duration of the time that we were there. Heck, we may have been there even longer if it wasn’t for a certain buzz-kill. Missy and I continued to drink over at my place, where we (and John) watched Wedding Crashers and I fell asleep towards the end. I did have a few beers in me, so I was not surprised when I dosed off. I think Missy laughed at my snoring, which woke me up. I got re-energized with a quick smoke break and then we watched the rest of the movie and Missy then went home.

Saturday, I spent 75% of my day playing, and beating, God of War. It’s an excellent game and recommended to anyone who likes the hack-n-slash types of games. Other than that, I watched the Broncos defeat the Patriots. And that was just the beginning of the football letdowns of the weekend.

The Colts were defeated by the Steelers on Sunday. It wasn’t much of a game until the 4th quarter, but Peyton made it one. unbelievable ending to the game, too. From The Colts being stopped on 4th down, to Jerome Bettis fumbling the ball on the next play (giving the ball back to Indy), to Vanderjagt missing a field goal to tie the game… damn. And then there were the Bears losing to the Panthers. It turned out to be a much better game than I had anticipated, but in the end it came down to 2 things: Rex Grossman’s inability to perform consistently over 4 quarters, and Steve Smith – his ability to absolutely torch the Bears’ number 1-ranked defense. Looks like we may have a Seattle-Denver (Pittsburg still has a decent shot too) SuperBowl Extra Large.

Finally filling out my weekend was a 2-hour season premier of 24, one of my favorite TV shows. Bastards had to take away 2 of my favorite characters too. I mean, WTF? I will definitely be watching this show religiously, along with the others: House and Family Guy (Sopranos and Entourage aren’t back on yet)…

Now if I could only escape those hypnotically magical eyes… 😉

Influx of teh hottness

I found myself outside for my 2-something PM smoke today, talking to an English gentleman who works upstairs. We were bullshitting, when an absolutely gorgeous woman walked into the building. Just unbelievably, amazingly, astonishingly wow. I believe that she was the 8 in this world that made all other 8s look like 2s.

It dawned on me that I have seen some really hot women in, and around, the building this week. A LOT more than usual (there are some hotties working here, like Tiffany and Rachel, but not this many). And it hasn’t been just around the office – they’re everywhere! A cornucopia of hotties. A taste explosion for the eyes. And it’s not just me seeing them either

I can’t help but smile. God bless America.

However, even with this influx, I still only think about 3 women with any regularity.

Michelle, my former employee – who I had been in contact with off and on since I left Sam’s in 2000, still makes it into my head quite frequently. I think about her mostly because of her messed up family situation and her drug habit, praying that she is doing well in Elko, Nevada (she was there the last time I talked to her, 8 months ago, and had kicked the hard stuff).

Courtney, who I still love dearly, jumps into my head because of the good times we shared. I mostly hope she is happy with whatever she has going on in her life. And who knows how the stars may align one day in the future. It’s happened before.

The third will rename nameless for now. You all can make assumptions if you wish, but I can tell you that your guesses will probably not be right. However those who do venture to guess will be rewarded with a Yes or No reply from me. Hint: I have seen this person in the last week or so…

Go ahead, give it a shot. I dare you (I’m a comment whore).

The RMC

The RMC has nothing to do with The DCtm. It was “The Rumsfeld-Mineta Challenge” – at least it was known as this online. The players knew it as “The Richard Moore Challenge.”

I devised a game, in which players would submit words or phrases for use on a target. The target was unknowingly being barraged by bizarreness from straight-faced friends, while in the meantime the players were scoring points for using said words/phrases. The rules were simple: You could not use a word or phrase that you yourself had submitted; When you used a word/phrase, there had to be another player present in order to verify that the word had been successfully used; Once a word/phrase had been used, it could not be used again. Sounds like fun, eh? It was.

Mark ended up winning by a large margin, mostly due to accessibility to the target. Below is an extensive list1 of words/phrases used successfully (by any player).

‘My advice for the real world – Don’t Go!’

Back to work after a week of vacation. I haven’t been nearly as bored today as I expected to be, mostly considering the huge amount of catch-up work I have to perform. And, of course, 90% of it is support related. It will be interesting to see what they do without me…

It’s been a while since I’ve updated. I keep wanting to blog, and each time I sit down to do it, something else comes up (Poker). Here’s a brief rundown of what you may have missed:

  • Got some neat stuff for Christmas.
  • Had a rip-rocking New Years Eve (played Guitar Hero and Dance Dance Revolution at my brother‘s place)
  • Vacation was uneventful and completely unproductive. I had a lot to do and only got about 1/10th of it done. I should have known that I would not be able to work on my vacation

Finally, I am sorry to see that SWSAS has either left, or been kicked out of, her blogosphere. Come back anytime. Chris Mhim misses you.

I’ll be back soon with another update about my adventurous journey into Acid. Yes, I went there.
